Mission Impossible III
Mr. Briggs and Mr. Phelps are gone, but Mr. Hunt is back in J.J. Abrams’ version of the I.M. Force where “Felicity” meets “Alias” meets “24”. Mission Impossible fans won’t be disappointed with the expected latex masks, self-destructing message, kidnapping, rescue, heist, explosions, deceit, double cross, car and helicopter chases, cables and winches, parachute, and weapons fire. This mission will send the IMF team from D.C. to Berlin to Vatican City to Shanghai. The difference with number 3 is things get personal. It is classic Tom Cruise heroism versus Philip Seymour Hoffman villainy. It is packed with action and adventure, but with a little too much of the Tom Terrific show. It needs more team and Hoffman time. Ving Rhames returns as Luther. Laurence Fishburne, Keri Russell, Michelle Monaghan and Simon Pegg help round out the cast. Greg Grunberg appears to be Abrams’ Clint Howard (Ron's little brother).
Alien gives it 3 “rabbit’s foot” stars out of 4.

MI-3
Considering the budget was probably over $200 million, I guess I expected more. Tom Cruise's roll was entertaining, but something was missing and I can't quite figure out what it was. There were several action packed sceens with explosions, but the action scenes seemed to be more of a focal point than the plot. Supporting actor Lawarence Fishbourne, Cuise's boss, played a powerful roll. And we still don't know what a rabbits foot is. Some scenes were somewhat choppy, quickly moving to the action scene. The plot in general was somewhat familiar, though there was a small twist at the end but not enough to get a higher rating. Again, something was missing in MI-3. SUHWEAT gives this movie 2 3/4 stars out of 4.

Greg Grunberg has known J.J. Abrams since they were in kindergarten. Greg has gotten parts in almost ever project J.J. works on including Felicity, Alias, Lost, What About Brian, and MI3.
