Rudo y Cursi (Rough and Vulgar)

This is not a sneak preview. This film has already released.

This English subtitled film tells the story of two Mexican brothers, a couple of hicks from the sticks who find the road to fame and fortune playing professional fútbol can be a bumpy one. Sibling rivalries and personal faults take Tato and Beto on a journey destined for a showdown at the big game with much at stake. This is a fine film, but the effectiveness of the humor and dialogue was lost in translation. Alien spent too much time reading the words than focusing on the action of the screen.

Up

Pixar’s latest 3D animation is a marvelous masterpiece that will make your heart soar with childhood wonderment. A lovable curmudgeon and a cute little wilderness explorer go on a high flying adventure to Paradise Falls to fulfill their dreams. Great characters, a terrific story, spectacular scenery, thrilling adventure, emotional moments, and hilarious jokes make this film a must see for all, the young and the old, as well as dog lovers. The talking dog collars were absolute genius. Some of the most powerful moments occur within the first ten minutes without a word uttered. This movie is destined to be a classic family film that will be enjoyed and watched over and over again. Don’t miss this gem.

The Hangover

This "groom's last days of freedom" film is filled with gross guy gags galore. Four guys head to Vegas hoping to have a night they will never forget. However, the next morning they wake up so hung over, that they can’t remember anything. Somehow, a tiger, a baby, a stolen police car, a wedding, Mike Tyson, a kidnapping, some missing money, a missing tooth, and a missing groom lead to clues about the previous night's events. It is a wildly crazy road trip that will give new meaning to the saying "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas". You must stay for the credits, but you won't be able to read them because your eyes will be staring at some revealing photos. This film is rated "R" for brides restricted and should never know what their man may have done.

Terminator Salvation

It’s "I am Legend" meets "Road Warrior" meets "War of the Worlds" meets "Transformers" in the apocalyptic world of Skynet in 2018. Those familiar with the names of John Connor, Kyle Reese, Cyberdyne, and Sarah Connor will catch on quickly to what created this dark, dreary, and desperate future of mankind in a battle against machines. It is basically a war picture about the struggles of determined resistance fighters with spectacular special effects, huge explosions, and heart pounding chase scenes. Once again Christian Bale plays second fiddle to another key character, Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington). Fans looking for Arnold won’t be disappointed.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian

Ben Stiller is back for more museum madness along with some new exhibits. The one time night guard is now an infomercial king and the venue shifts from NYC to DC. Amy Adams’ addition is always a delight, there is really not much new here. It is just more of the same rehashed from the original, but the kids will still have fun with it. Hopefully, viewers will be inspired to visit the Smithsonian museums (and they are absolutely free).

Star Trek (The IMAX Experience)

The new Star Trek movie opens with a bang and a birth as Romulans from the future seek revenge on Vulcans and the Federation. Fans will be delighted and relish the recreation of their favorite TV show and characters from 40 years ago. The younger replacements have not only accurately captured the spirit of their crew member, but also a lot of the nuances of speech, expressions, and the subtle movements and poses. The movie is filled with so many memorable moments from Star Trek past that fans can’t help but smile and chuckle when they make that connection. If you are not a huge fan of the series, don’t worry because the movie is nonstop action that will dazzle your eyes and by the end you will want more. JJ Abrams has taken the helm of this franchise and boldly goes where no one has gone before. It is warp 10 awesome! Alien has got to see it again.

Dinosaurs Alive

Coelophysis, Seismosaurus, and Oviraptor, oh my!

See how paleontologists unearth fossils and uncover clues to how dinosaurs lived. At the IMAX, 3D CGI animation shows us how these creatures may have looked as they hunted for their prey. It’s educational and entertaining.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

This is not a sneak preview. This film has already released.

The Marvel Comics superhero saga continues with the back story of Jimmy and Victor (aka Wolverine and Sabretooth) and the beginnings of the X-Men gang. The audience will be introduced to quite an assortment of mutants who end up being hunted down for a top secret military project. This summer blockbuster is filled with spectacular special effects, sometimes overly Hollywoodized. This one is action fun and a stepping stone to more X-Men tales. Stay through to the end of the credits for a final scene.
