Surf’s Up
You’ve seen them escaping, marching, singing and dancing. Now, those penguins are back and surfing. It’s “Happy Feet” meets “The Endless Summer” in this very funny mockumentary that takes you from Antarctica to Pen Gu Bay for the 10th Annual Z Memorial Surfing Competition. This wonderful family film is filled with lots of fun for the young and the old. The animation, the characters, and the story make this movie a real winner. Alien thought the voice selections for these charming and colorful characters were right on. The film makers go to great detail to humanize these tuxedoed creatures and their friends. The surfing scenes are spectacular and will make you want to grab a board, catch a wave, and shoot the pipeline. What can be cooler than penguins combined with surfing.
Alien gives it 3 “cute as Chilly Willy” stars out of 4.
