Hamlet 2
The co-writer of South Park and Team America World Police has created a musical comedy designed to either offend your sense of decency or tickle your sense of humor. Just like one of those old Mickey Rooney/Judy Garland films, the high school kids must put on a show to save the drama department, except their play is a cross between Hamlet, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Grease. The movie ridicules and spoofs just about everything it can; drama class, gays, Latinos, religion, and more. It is 4 letter word funny. It is silly humor. It is offensive humor. Steve Coogan is the starring idiot along Catherine Keener, David Arquette, and Amy Poehler. Elisabeth Shue plays herself and she has great fun poking fun at herself. This one is rated “R” for sexual references, drug content, and brief nudity.
Alien gives it 2 ½ "strangely horrified and fascinated at the same time" stars out of 4.
