Mechanic Resurrection

Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham) is back from the dead & is coerced into 3 "Mission Impossible" accident-looking assassinations in order to save his new girlfriend? (Jessica Alba). The Statham action scenes are everything you would expect & are looking for. From Brazil to Thailand to Malaysia to Australia to Bulgaria to Africa, the plot is weak & improbable but not totally unexpected; just hoping for better. You get Statham shirtless at times & Alba in a bikini with obligatory T&A shots underwater. You get a very fake looking stealthy night boat scene for our hero (maybe Statham has a no working on the water at night clause in his contract). You get a rather quick quasi-romantic connection between the leads. You get a damsel in distress with some skills & movie magic toughness. Tommy Lee Jones is casted as a bad guy but unfortunately he is misused; with little screen time & not playing the main villain (however, the possibility of a future role is hinted in case a third film happens). Nevertheless, if you ignore the implausible moments & just go with the flow of the action stunts, you'll probably enjoy yourself (mindless fun).

Alien gives it 2 "prison, pool, submarine" stars out of 4.
