The Dark Tower
Crossing a desert on a planet with 2 moons overhead, a boy with a special power searches for the last soldier of an order of knightly protectors. This father figure soldier uses an inner spiritual force to guide his hands & weapons against an all powerful evil dressed in black that can mentally influence minds & stop objects in midair. Wait, isn't that "Star Wars"?
Yes, but this is also Stephen King's fantasy/sci-fi tale about the eternal struggle between good & evil, the Gunslinger (Idris Elba) vs the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey). It's Colt 45's, space portals, & faceless henchmen in this slick action adventure about protecting the dark tower & saving parallel worlds from destruction.
Alien gives it 3½ "the chosen one with the shine" stars out of 4.
