Searching
A desperate father (John Cho) files a missing persons report when he loses contact with his teenage daughter. Debra Messing plays the police detective working on the case. This film exploits the “Unfriended” format gimmick of using modern technology device screens to recount this missing person mystery. It was a clever idea but, for me, I️ quickly grew tired of the busy screen & was always worrying about not noticing some key information amongst the clutter & jumble of information. As this dad searches through his daughter’s social media for clues leading to finding her, he realizes maybe he really doesn’t know his own daughter as well as he thought. Pay attention to all of the subtle clues because there are many twists & turns as the plot slowly unfolds. Was she a runaway? Was she a victim of foul play? Did she have a secret to hide? This a story about what lengths a parent would go through for their child.
Alien gives it 3 “digital footprint” stars out of 4.
