Can You Ever Forgive Me?

This is not a sneak preview. This film has already released.

When a celebrity profile biographer Lee Israel (Melissa McCarthy) falls on hard times unable to find gainful employment using her skill sets so she turns to forging intriguing letters by famous actors & writers. Soon suspicion falls on her creativity, she enlists assistance from her gay friend Jack (Richard E. Grant) make the transactions but the FBI is now on the case. I️ like seeing McCarthy break away from her typical comedy roles. She does a good job but her character is not likable. Israel is a self centered, mean spirited alcoholic cheat & thief. Remarkably, this film is based on a true story. However, the story is somewhat interesting but not riveting.

Alien gives it 2 “collecting typewriters” stars out of 4.
