In 1977, an American dancer Susie (Dakota Johnson) joins the Helena Markos Dance Company in Berlin. The instructor is Madame Blanc (Tilda Swinton) is the instructor. There is more than meets the eye at this dance academy as 2 company girls (Chloë Grace Moritz & Mia Goth) fall victim to some supernatural occurrences. The visuals & the musical score set the mood of uneasiness as the story unfolds. The film seems to go out of its way to make the audience uncomfortable by not clearly explaining anything of the strange & weird images happening before our eyes. Expect lots of blood & guts with nudity & disembowelments. Unless you’ve previously seen the classic original, you may have to google the internet in order to figure out what the heck is going on here like I️ had to. Confusing, dramatic, & bizarre but with a twist.
Alien gives it 1½ “witches wanting immortality” stars out of 4.
