The Girl in the Spider’s Web

Lisbeth Salander (Claire Foy), the girl in the dragon tattoo & the boyish hairdo, the protector of wronged women, & a motorcycle riding computer hacker, is back. In this sequel, Lisbeth gets tangled in a web of spies, stolen secrets, a kidnapped kid, Russian thugs, & a lady in red. Her pals, journalist Mikael Blomkvist & fellow hacker Plague, are also there to assist her. Once again it’s winter time in Stockholm, Sweden, & the mood is icy cold & slow paced. It’s been 7 years since the first film so I️ had to do a little review to refresh my memories of Lisbeth’s past. Like in many crime thrillers, many contrived conveniences fall in place to fit the plot but don’t let that spoil your fun. Just when you think things couldn’t get worse for our girl, it does. Interesting note is that this sequel doesn’t include any of the original actors in their featured roles. Foy is excellent as Lisbeth but I️ still liked Rooney Mara better in this role.
Alien gives it 3 “White Bishop” stars out of 4.
