The Gentleman
Director Guy Richie tells an elaborate twisting tale about the competition for control of a lucrative marijuana empire in England. Mickey Pearson (Mathew McConaughey) has a very successful covert drug operation but he wants to sell his business & retire with his wife/love of his life, Rosalind (Michelle Dockery). This is a violent, action thriller with a sly sense of humor & a unique cast of colorful characters (including Hugh Grant, Colin Farrell, Henry Golding, & Charlie Hunnam). The plot starts out slow & confusing as the audience is only fed bits & pieces of this stylized crime drama with many surprising twists & turns and littered by name calling nearly everyone a “cunt”. So if you hang in there amongst the British accents, you’ll be treated to a wild ride in this entertainingly fun “cat & mouse” game of gaining the upper hand.
Alien gives it 3 “blackmail & deceit” stars out of 4.
