The French Dispatch

Wes Anderson films are typically artistic, witty, & quirky. However, I️ found “The French Dispatch” particularly peculiar. Told as 5 story items by 5 different reporters for a newspaper magazine; sometimes in black & white, sometimes in color, mostly in English, but with parts in French with English subtitles. The characters are as odd as their stories. The all star ensemble cast includes Benicio del Toro, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swindon, Léa Seydoux, Frances McDormand, Timothée Chalamet, Jeffrey Wright, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Christoph Walrz, Edward Norton, Jason Schwartzman, &Anjelica Huston. Rated “R” for language & full frontal nudity. If you liked Wes Anderson’s previous films, you may like this one too. For me it was more mildly amusing than funny. Just not my sense of humor, but some unique visuals.

Alien gives it 2 “Boredom Upon Apathy” stars out of 4.
