Tinā
Samoan teacher Mareta Percival is struggling after the tragic loss of her daughter. Coming from a poorer background, she reluctantly takes a job as a substitute teacher at a prestigious elite school. After meeting this student Sophie, Mareta decides to establish a school choir program. However, her teaching methods are unconventional but effective. She soon has her student singers harmonizing & working together. When they are headed to nationals, Mareta’s secret is revealed. I️ loved how this lady’s culture is weaved into the movie’s story. Tinā means mother in Samoan. This New Zealand/Samoan inspiring bittersweet story is about rediscovering one’s passions as a teacher & a mother.
