Van Helsing

If horror is your genre, you got to see “Van Helsing”. It is a heart-throbbing thrill ride. Universal Pictures has masterfully reinvented their classic movie monsters. Back are Dracula, the Wolfman, and Frankenstein’s Monster along with some surprises, such as the almost supersonic Brides of Dracula. Great villains make movies great and in this one, Dracula is mesmerizing. To battle these incredible monsters are two outstanding heroes to match. It is ironic that Kate Beckinsale (Underworld) finds herself again in the midst of vampires and werewolves and Hugh Jackman (X-Men) fights with sharp metallic blades at his finger tips.

It’s an action/adventure/horror tale with touches of Indiana Jones, James Bond, Alien, Star Wars, Anastasia, and Alice in Wonderland all in the mix. The special effects are spectacular, but remember to bring your ear plugs. You got to love a good horror story.

When you get off this Universal thrill ride, you’ll be running back to get in line again.

Alien gives it 3 ½ galactic stars out of 4.
