The Last Kiss

It's "Garden State" meets "Men Behaving Badly". Alien expected it to be your typical romantic/comedy chick flick, but it’s not really. It’s more of a dramedy about men who get scared about commitment. Told more from a male perspective, it’s more light-hearted serious and sad than funny. The men act like the idiots they are and end up making bad choices when they can’t handle their relationships. It stars Zach Braff (behaving like a bad puppy, but still adorable), Jacinda Barrett, Casey Affleck (Ben’s younger brother), Rachel Bilson (Summer from the O.C.) with Blythe Danner (Gwyneth’s mom and Apple’s grandma) and Tom Wilkinson. Rated “R” for language, sexuality, and nudity. If you like Zach's antics, you'll probably enjoy this movie.

Alien gives it 2 “confused and scared in Madison, Wisconsin” stars out of 4.

Comments:
Michael (Zach Braff) and girlfriend Jenna (Jacinda Barrett) are about to tell Jenna's parents that she is pregnant. Michael is commited to this relationship but fearful of getting married because to him it seems to final. Jenna is a very logical person and even though Jenna's parents are going through marital problem after a 30 year marriage, Jenna feels that most relationships are black and white. Jenna seems to feel she understands what actually goes on in her parents marriage. What Jenna fails to realize is that most marriages are not black and white but actually gray. There's an old boxing phrase that comes to mind, " Everyones got a plan...until you get hit". Basically in relationships we never know what we might do until it actually happens. Michael decides to do something very stupid and Jenna finds herself emotionally punched in the gut and now she is in this relationship gray zone. Now Jenna is having to operate in this gray zone like her parents. While all of this is going on, there are other supporting stories that are very interesting and help to keep the movie interesting. Good people do make bad choices at times and anger tends to cloud our judgement in most cases. This young couple finds that like other couple life is operated from the gray area and ulitimately we have to get past the anger and simply talk. I thought the movie was very entertaining and held my interest. I left the movie with a good feeling and most would enjoy this drama/comedy. I give the movie 3 gray zone stars out of 4.
