Hairspray

Grab your cans of Aquanet because big hair is making a comeback as “American Dreams” the Musical with John Travolta in drag hits the big screen. Lively songs and dance numbers punctuate this blast from the past tale that will bring back fond memories of the 60s and American Bandstand. It is a hilarious look back at the styles, attitudes, and the signs of the times. Nikki Blonsky is perfect as the sweet and bubbly Tracy Turnblad. The cast features some wonderful young talent. This is Travolta’s biggest and boldest role yet. Seeing him shake and shimmy is worth the price of admission alone. This musical is great fun and great entertainment.

Alien gives it 3 ½ “don’t dent the do” stars out of 4.

Thanks for the movie tickets for" Hairspray." The theater was packed with an enthusiastic audience that clapped and cheered throughout the show. I enjoyed the nostalgic trip back to the 60's. The theme of the show was centered around a television show reminiscent of the Dick Clark show which I remember dashing home from school to watch. Lots of good music and dancing from that period. John Travolta was great as Edna. He was as light on his feet as he was in the 70's in the movies "Grease", in spite of the extra weight! Thanks again for the tickets for a fun filled evening .

Alien, I too would like to thank you for the numerous movie tickets that you have passed on to David, to share with us during the last few weeks. If it hadn't been for your generosity, Nancy and I would not have had the opportunity to see several good movies. Probably one of my most favorites was "Hairspray" as I am from the generation from which that movie portrays. I have recommended that movie to many of my friends to see. However I suggest to them to go on ad day that is really lousy for them; fight with the wife, kids are not behaving, or the boss has been a SOB. The movie is a great "attitude adjuster!" When you leave the theater after seeing "Hairspray" you feel good, and forget about the problems of the day. Not many movies you can say that about these days!

Again thanks for thinking of us with the extra tickets.
