Brideshead Revisited
For those who never heard about the famous novel or 1981 TV miniseries, this is the story of a young man’s attraction to an English blue blood family and their ancestral home, Brideshead Castle. Emma Thompson plays the devote Catholic matriarch who manipulates her children. Alien tried to get into this movie, but found it quite boorish and dreary. However, the Brideshead estate was magnificent and I enjoyed the tour. If you favor slow-moving, dry English period pieces, this may be your cup of tea.
Alien gives it 1 ½ “painter from Paddington” stars out of 4.
