Phantom Thread

This is not a sneak preview. This film has already released.

Set around 1950’s London fashion world, renowned fashion designer & confirmed bachelor Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day-Lewis) meets a young waitress Alma who soon becomes his muse, assistant, & lover. Thus begins the oddest romantic relationship beginning with a strange first date that seems to include an additional person, developing to love/hate feelings, & even taking on a shades of Grey quality. Day-Lewis gives an outstanding performance of a most peculiar, controlling, & self absorbed person. It is a terrific period piece. Although the story line dictates stiff, prim, & proper due to the main character’s influence, it will keep you guessing as to where it will lead you to at the end. Will it be happy or tragic or just surprising. This film is probably not for everyone as it is dry & slow paced. To be honest, this critic has a hard time liking a film if I️ don’t like the main characters. It is a well crafted film but not high up on my best picture contenders list.

Alien gives it  2½ “hungry boy & fussy man” stars out of 4.
