After a young man (Lucas Hedges) is outed to his parents (Russell Crowe & Nicole Kidman) as being gay, he is put to a conversion therapy program. The chief therapist (Joel Edgerton) aggressively pressures & bullies participants into submission. Hedges gives an amazing performance as the conflicted individual dealing with his family & his feelings. Crowe & Kidman are outstanding with the subtle nuances given to their complex characters trying to love their son & hold on to their religious beliefs.
