Alien at the Movies

Sacramento 

Two longtime BFF’s (Michael Angarano & Michael Cera) find themselves drifted apart in their lifestyles. One now has a pregnant partner (Kristen Stewart). So the free-spirited friend convinces the now more domesticated one to go on an impromptu bonding trip from LA to Sacramento under a false pretense. It’s dry deadpan humor in an odd film featuring a buddy roadtrip that feels like it goes nowhere. Maya Erskine plays the other partner in this 2 couples comedy. This film is dull & totally forgettable but I️ did enjoy seeing key landmarks in a city I’m familiar with. 

Alien gives it 1½ “father’s cremated ashes” stars out of 4.
